The Warlord Chronicles |
By Bernard Cornwell | |||
| The Warlord Chronicles follow the
Saxon born Derfel Cadarn as he recounts his life spent serving Arthur. This
is an intriguing take on the legends as it places Arthur into a historical
setting but also surrounds him with mysticism and even the supernatural. The
portrayals of Guinevere and Lancelot are particularly interesting as not
only do they betray Arthur but they have few redeeming features to their
characters. Merlin is probably the most important figure in these books
or at least has the biggest influence over events.
