Below is the first entry in our old diary that we kept

FILM PROJECT 25th
November 2003
We decided that we would try to keep a
diary while we attempt to make our Arthurian film. We don't no whether or
not we will succeed in making it but we intend to give it a good go.
Although the real project started this year the ideas for it first began
when most of us in our Arthurian group were still in our early teens. Steve
Carter, Stu B and myself watched John Boorman's 1981 film 'Excalibur' when
we were at school and we have dreamed of making some sort of Arthurian film
ever since. As we got older we read a variety of different Arthurian
literature and have never come across anything that told the story in the
way we wanted. However, from reading authors such as Helen Hollick and
Bernard Cornwell we have now decided that we will put our story into a
historical setting. The first draft of a script has been written for
the film and so we have now set about contacting people within the film
industry and looked at possible ways of gaining finance. We do expect that
there will be many twists and turns and I know from my own experience within
the industry that getting the film made is only half the job as then comes
the difficulty of distribution.
I have worked on the direction and production of TV commercials and before
that in market research for film and television. So I have had some
experience in production and the industry in general. However, I am hoping
to get several colleagues on board who have a great deal of experience in
producing TV documentaries and films. None of us have gone into this
with our eyes closed and we no that getting investors and a decent crew will
not be easy. I have met over the last ten years many people who have had
dreams of making films and most fail because of either a lack of know how or
finance.
To bring our true vision to the screen it may cost anywhere between 30 to 60
million pounds. So I intend to speak everyone I know who works in the
industry to get ideas on funding the project.
