I am a
retired
civil
servant,
much of my
work
involved
analysis, I
came across
conceptual
models in an
OU course
and became
interested
in Jungian
psychology
about 20
years ago.
That of
course
involves
symbolism.
Symbols and
models are
all about
variables
and
relationships
between
them, which
can be seen
as patterns.
Thats the
perspective
that I
brought to
the
analysis.
I bought the book "The High History of the Holy Grail" about 15 to 20 years ago in Glastonbury - where else? Its language is impenetrable but there was something in it that made me re-read it several times. At this point I was also taking an interest in Celtic Christianity, with visits to Iona and elsewhere in Scotland. On a course at Woodbrooke college in Birmingham I saw some Canadian films on the goddess and bought "The Crone" by Barbara G Walker. All these things came together in the grail story.
I sensed there was something about the goddess or Celtic Christianity in it but couldn't put my finger on it. I started summarising the material to work on years ago but left it until 2009 to start the analysis. I am surprised that my aim in the analysis was to find the yonic symbol of the pagan goddess; I think something in me must have sensed it was there. Anyway, having completed my analysis of the grail quests, I failed to identify the goddess or her symbol although I found lots of sexual symbolism. As a last attempt, for the sake of thoroughness more than hope, I decided to analyse the damsels, ladies and maidens which proliferate throughout the tale but are fragmented and in the background. There I found what I was looking for and the paper on www.scribd.com is the result.
I have a revision in the pipeline, basically I have found a link from the Arthurian material to the Templars and from the Templar cross to certain biblical material.
