There has been great excitement in Arthurian circles over the news that Warner Bros. will be releasing a film adaptation of TH White's 'The Once Future King.' The film is to be produced by the Mutual Film Company and the Mark Gordon company. Two time oscar nominee Kenneth Lonergan (shown above) is set to direct the production, which is currently in early development with the hope that the film will finally be released in 2010. It has been suggested on a number of film forums that principle photography will take place in Ireland in early 2009. While Gary Levinsohn is listed as Executive Producer, Lonergan is also stated to be writing the screenplay for the film. Of course this is not the first adaptation of TH White's work as the first part of TOAFK, 'The Sword Of The Stone' was made into an animated feature film back in 1963. Also, Lerner and Loewe's musical 'Camelot,' and the later film version were based on White's novel. See Also - |
