Episode 5/13 ~ Lancelot (18th October 2008)

Plot ~ Merlin is attacked by a winged creature, but is saved by a heroic knight from a distant land. His name is Lancelot and when he explains that his dream is to become a knight of Camelot, Merlin decides to help him.

However, Lancelot (Santiago Cabrera) is not born of the nobility which means he cannot become one of Uther's knights. However, Merlin forges a document and Lancelot is presented as the son of the Duke of Northumbria.

In training to become a knight, Lancelot makes quite an impression and Arthur is impressed. However, when Lancelot's true identity is discovered, Uther has him imprisoned.

Meanwhile, the winged creature terrorises the nearby settlements and they discover that the creature is in fact a Griffin and can only be killed using magic. Arthur must lead his knights to kill it but can he succeed without the help of Lancelot and Merlin?
