Episode 2.3 ~ The Nightmare Begins (3rd October 2009)

Plot ~ When Morgana believes that she has managed to set fire to her own chamber through magic she tells Gaius of her fears. Gaius chooses not to tell her the truth about her abilities but Merlin wants to help her.

Uther decides that magic has caused Morgana's accident and decides that Arthur and his men should hunt down the magical Druids in Camelot who might be responsible. Merlin helps to save a woman with connections to the Druids and in return she agrees to help the young wizard.

Merlin goes against the wishes of both Gaius and the Great Dragon and helps Morgana to make contact with the Druids. On her way there, Morgana is attacked by monster scorpions, but is rescued by the Druid Aglain (Colin Salmon) and taken back to his camp where she is reunited with the Druid boy, Mordred (Asa Butterfield).

Meanwhile, Merlin has discovered that Uther believes the Druids have kidnapped Morgana and sends Arthur out to rescue her. Realising that he may have brought both danger to Morgana and the Druids, Merlin sets out to warn them that Arthur and his men are coming. Can he save the Druids from destruction?
