Episode 10/13 ~ The Moment Of Truth (22nd November 2008)

Plot ~ Merlin's mother Hunith arrives in Camelot to tell how her village is being regularly attacked by a group of bandits led by Kanan (Alexander Siddig). These outlaws have taken the villager's food and even killed.

Hunith appeals to King Uther to send his forces to save the village, but Camelot's ruler cannot as it means passing into another kingdom, which would be seen as an act of war. However, Arthur decides that he will help save his friend's home and Gwen and Morgana go with him and Merlin.

Once home the young magician is re-united with his  childhood friend, William (Joe Dempsie). Will knows about Merlin's gift and it transpires that this was the reason for him being sent away to Camelot. Will urges Merlin to use his abilities to defeat the bandits, but the wizard is determined not to do so in front of Prince Arthur.

Arthur saves a villager from Kanan but knows that the bandits will return in greater force. Can Merlin and Arthur save the village from Kanan without the young wizard having to resort to magic and risk Arthur finding out about his secret?
