Marion Zimmer Bradley

(June 3, 1930 – September 25, 1999)

She was a prominent author of fantasy novels such as The Mists of Avalon.

The Mists of Avalon is probably her most famous single novel. It is a retelling of Arthurian legend from the point of view of Morgaine and Gwenhwyfar. However, MZB is also hugely respected in science fiction circles for her Darkover series.

She also wrote a fantasy novel about the Trojan War called 'Firebrand' that was published in 1987. As with 'The Mists of Avalon' the story is told from the point of view of a female character, in this case Cassandra, a daughter of King Priam of Troy, who receives visions predicting future events.
